It’s such a simple message

But for too many people, it’s still not a reality.

You can help change that by sharing the message, showing up, and building a community where we are all welcome to be our full selves anywhere and everywhere.

We all have a part to play to create that world – one where every person can safely, openly and proudly say. “It’s OK2BME!!”

Take up the message. Share it. Live it. Let’s make it OK to be you - and me.

Celebrating 20 years of OK2BME

For 20 years, OK2BME has been part of shaping a community where people feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

"It’s OK 2 BE YOU. It’s OK2BME." marks this milestone and reminds us there’s still work to do. It’s a call to keep making space, through every conversation, classroom, and workplace, so no one feels alone or unseen.

Thank you to every youth, family member, team member, volunteer, partner, and donor who has made OK2BME what it is today. Whether you are part of queer and trans communities or a valued ally - You are part of this story!

Why It Matters

Queer and trans individuals experience a range of mental health challenges, at disproportionately higher rates - not due to 2SLGBTQIA+ identities themselves but because of stigma, discrimination, and the oppression of 2SLGBTQIA+ people.

Affirming mental health care and belonging is vital.

Every time someone feels seen, supported, or celebrated through this work, we move closer to a community where all people can thrive.

How You Can Take Action

“Pride” is all year, not just in June. And so is your impact!

Just as OK2BME is here 12 months of the year, supporters and allies are needed all year round, too!

Here’s how you can help keep this message visible and alive.

Be a Visible Ally

Show support with symbols that say: “I see you. I’m with you.” Be the reason some breathes a little easier.

What We Do

Affirming. Supporting. Celebrating. Since 2005.

There was a need 20 years ago. There is a need now. Our commitment continues: to create a community where all identities are seen, celebrated, and safe to be visible - not just in June, but all year round.

Camino
Beyond OK2BME – Camino’s No Wrong Door Approach

OK2BME is just ONE part of the wide range of wellbeing and mental health supports available through Camino where support is available for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Whether your path to improved wellbeing includes preventative supports or more intensive programs or a combination of services, there is no wrong door when finding the program that fits your needs.

How It All Started

OK2BME began in 2005 as a bold collaboration between Camino Wellbeing + Mental Health (KW Counselling Services at the time) and Family and Children’s Services of Waterloo Region, to address the unique needs of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth. The program has grown into a cornerstone of community support, connection, and pride.

For 20 years, OK2BME has been a leader in building Waterloo Region’s community capacity to meet the needs of 2SLGBTQIA+ young people and the broader 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
