A Message From Our Board Chair

Publications · Monday, Jul 28, 2025

When we came together as a Unified Organization we had one overarching objective: to provide even better service to our community. With the significant increase in the need for wellbeing and mental health services we knew we needed to develop new ways to support the diverse needs of our region and achieve our vision of a connected community where ALL people thrive.

A connected community where ALL people thrive

I am incredibly proud of the great strides that we have made toward this goal. In particular, the progress we have made in the ease of access to services and our enhancement of Community Partnerships have broadened accessibility to services throughout our community.

When seeking support, you need to know which door to open to find your way. Being able to access services easily is a priority for Camino. We had a vision that with a single click, call, or conversation you could easily access services and support. We have seen this vision come to fruition in our Wayfinding initiative, which has increased access to service and decreased wait times.

With the support of our funders and donors, we were able to open the door to new services. Our Quick Response services were enhanced and now - in addition to Adult Quick Response, we are able to provide same-day counselling to children and youth 5 days a week, providing services when they are needed the most.

We have also opened the door to new Community Partnerships - and all partnerships have strengthened and grown in the year.
  • Reimagining how we provide services to support young parents and their children, building grassroots relationships to deliver culturally responsive support, and
Working with the Ontario Health Team Partners to develop the Mental Health and Addictions Systems Transformation team which will help to break down barriers across the region
With each door that has opened, we have seen and heard heartwarming and joyful stories of success, growth, and development.

I am so proud of the accomplishments of our fantastic team of employees and volunteers at Camino led by our CEO Tracy Elop. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank our team for the commitment they have demonstrated to our mission and vision, and their dedication to our community.

To all of our funders and donors, you have helped us take great strides down the path in our mission to support individuals, families, and our communities as they work to strengthen their wellbeing and mental health. Thank you for your continued support.
